The B|D Construction Story:
BD Construction was founded in Columbus, Nebraska in 1960.
Nearly a quarter-century later, in 1983, an energetic young man named Mark Benjamin opened a satellite office in Kearney. Under Benjamin’s direction, BD Construction Inc./Kearney bloomed into a busy and successful enterprise, with construction projects throughout Nebraska, Kansas, South Dakota and the surrounding states.

In 2002, Benjamin and other Kearney-based employees purchased the firm from the original owners. The Department of Veterans’ Affairs (NDVA) was created by LB 187 and LB 240 of the 1947 Session of the Legislature. Of note, Nebraska State Veterans’ Homes trace their roots to 1887. LB 340 of the 2017 Session of the Legislature merged the former Department of Health and Human Services Division of Veterans’ Homes into the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, effective July 1, 2017.

Central Community College is a multi-campus community college serving a 25-county area in central Nebraska — approximately 14,000 square miles with a population of more than 300,000.

CCC offers 37 career and technical education programs with a focus on degree, diploma and certificate programs requiring two years or less to complete. The college also offers an academic transfer program for students who want to complete the first two years of a bachelor’s degree before transferring to a four-year college or university.

In addition, the college offers classes in communities throughout its 25-county service area, online learning, and training and development for businesses, industries and other organizations.

The central administration is located in Grand Island. Three main campuses are located in Columbus, Grand Island and Hastings. Educational centers are located in Holdrege, Kearney and Lexington. In our department, you will be prepared to work in many different and interesting places; in industrial settings and government labs, schools, or on college campuses. Physicists, astrophysicists, and engineers also work in unconventional settings, such as at newspapers and magazines, in government, or even in business — anyplace where their problem-solving abilities and analytical skills are great assets.
MILITARY SCIENCE (ROTC)
The UNK Army ROTC Program is an elective curriculum you take along with your college classes. It gives you the tools, training, and experiences that will help you succeed in any competitive environment. Along with great leadership training, Army ROTC can pay for your college tuition. Because Army ROTC is an elective, you can participate your freshman and sophomore years without any obligation to join the Army. A normal college experience like everyone else on campus.
