Leadership Partner /lēdərˌSHip pärtnər/: A business or organization who makes an annual non-dues voluntary investment to help the Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce reach new programming goals by investing additional funds, and at the same time helping the Chamber organization keep their overall dues at a manageable amount for members. Tell us a little about Bruce Furniture & Flooring: Bruce Furniture opened in Alliance, Nebraska in 1977, the second location opened in Hastings in 1984, a third in 2000 in Holdrege, a fourth in Kearney in 2006 with the purchase of Payne Larson Furniture, and finally a fifth location in North Platte in 2017!
Michael Bruce has operated the Kearney location since its opening and called it a "great opportunity to buy another family business in a vibrant community. Perfect for business growth and to raise our family".
Tell us a little about you! What do you love about Kearney? Michael Bruce -
I grew up in Alliance from age 6 months to 7 years old (the first Bruce Furniture was opened by my dad, Doug Bruce, in 1977 in Alliance) We moved to Hastings next when my dad purchased a store there in 1984 and I graduated from Hastings High in 1995. I attended college at UNL, graduated in 1999, and returned to central Nebraska to join the family business and open a location in Holdrege in 2000.
I married my wife Tera in 2000 and together we have two kids, Easton, 18 and Merrick, 13.
We enjoy visiting local restaurants and attending our children's activities and other local sporting events at great venues.
