PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: LEADING IN 2021

At the end of 2020, the Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce sent out a survey asking our members what they want to see as a benefit of their membership. The number one request was free professional development - so we delivered!

Beginning February 15th, the Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a free professional development course in partnership with Rising Tide Leadership Development. The course covered 11 principles of facing adversity in the workplace and created a safe space to share both successes and struggles. Attendees had the opportunity to work with different skills alone and in groups, both online and in person! They were also given the chance to meet others in the group and grow their network.

One main topic discussed was how to overcome adversity in the workplace. Participants found that reflecting instead of reacting helped turn negative thoughts into positive ones. Ultimately, we hoped that this class would provide ideas that can be applied in the workplace and build credibility as participants continue to gain new skill sets.
