Christine’s Horseback Riding hosted a Ribbon Cutting ceremony on Thursday, June 24th, in celebration of their new membership. This festive event offered free pony rides, unicorn photos and Sno Cones.
Christine Wilson had just two horses when she began her business in 2003, however today the number has grown to 10 horses. Christine’s Horseback Riding business also owns a pony mule, two Shetland ponies, five cats and several chickens — plenty of animals for children to love.
Most of the lessons take place at her Hidden Hills Arena, however, some services take place outside the arena as well. “We do lessons for all ages and trail rides,” Wilson said. “We’re also contracted with the state to do trail rides at Fort Kearny Historical Park.” All trail rides are supervised by a member of management certified by the renowned Certified Horsemanship Association.
They offer riding lessons in English (Dressage and Jump), Western (Pleasure and Trail), and Speed (Pole and Barrel). Riding lessons are available for ages three and above for all experience levels. They also offer therapeutic riding for adults with disabilities. They help riders work through any fear factors they may have.
Horse Day Camp is offered to children as young as four. Students learn the basics of horse care such as how to groom the horses, barn safety, and basic riding instructions. Camps also educate on saddling horses, holding the reins, as well as how to walk, trot, and ride a small obstacle course. Every student will get assigned their individual horse to care for throughout camp. Students also get to decorate their horses with finger paint and bathe after, weather permitting. Arts and crafts are also included in the camp where the students can create a dreamcatcher out of horseshoes. Campers also get a chance to decorate their own unicorn cookies.
Christine’s Horseback Riding stables are fully experienced with all the necessary safety equipment, helmets and safety vests. Riding students have the opportunity to haul in their horse(s) as well. Whether you are an old hand or meeting horses for the very first time, you’re sure to bring home exciting, adventure-filled memories that will last a lifetime! Just bring some long pants and sturdy shoes, and they will provide the rest.
