The Senior Coalition met on Tuesday, June 28th at Birdies and Brews, located at 5915 2nd Ave., Suite 4 in Kearney. Co-owner, Lonnie Lindner, demonstrated how the indoor golf simulators work and the many program options included.
They offer three, state of the art golf simulators loaded with high-tech sensors that provide golfers of all levels the best experience possible. Players can choose any of the 70 premier courses from Pebble Beach, Old Saint Andrews, or Whistling Straits. They also have arcade games built into the program such as skeet ball, cornhole, beer pong, or darts.
Outside of the simulators, there is a small putting green and a corn hole game set up for extra entertainment. During business hours of Monday – Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., they offer one-hour time slots for $30 per hour. During the evenings or weekends, each hour reservation is $40 each. It doesn’t matter how many people are in your party. Lonnie said, “Typically, two people can comfortably get nine holes in an hour.”
An additional perk to the indoor golfing method versus the outside golf course is the social feature. “That’s one of the nice things”, Lonnie says, “I like golfing with my friends, but they’re on this side of the fairway, while I’m on that side. You literally see only see each other at the tee box. Here, you can sit and talk the whole time!” Lonnie mentioned there are some groups that bring their clients in for business meetings.
The large facility is perfect for events. Lonnie mentioned they’ve held about 50 events since they opened back in October 2021. “We’ve done three or four graduation parties this year and already have about four booked for next year’s graduation. We’ve done at least three wedding rehearsal dinners.” Lonnie mentioned they just partnered with Legacy on the Bricks Event Center who plans to offer Birdies & Brews as another facility for hosting events.
