On Tuesday, February 22, the Senior Coalition traveled to the Kearney Area Children's Museum, located at 5827 4th Ave. Director of Community Engagement, Jennifer Beck, walked the group around the museum showing them all the new exhibits. The many attractions include real emergency vehicles, a new interactive water table, a grocery store, a pizzeria, a farm full of interactive activities and playground, a theater with dress up clothes and instruments, a climbing wall and two story playground, NASA Space station, FNBO Bank with talking ATM machine, an electric ran train set up with miniature settings, and much more! They have 20+ exhibits focusing on early child development through interactive experiences. Exhibits are kept up to date through sponsorships and renovations that occur as the exhibits need. Each exhibit is designed with education in mind and with how it relates to our community.
To help serve the community, the museum offers a monthly Free Family Fun Night which provides families in the community access to the museum at no charge.
They have also taken educational programs into the community during special community events and when visiting elementary classrooms to help supplement curriculum.
They offer multiple family events throughout the year such as Roadway Heroes, BOO!-seum, and Breakfast with Santa. They also offer programs when Kearney Public Schools have school days off to help provide childcare during those days. Kids Night Outs are another popular event hosted once a month for parents to have a night out too.
The Children's Museum is a great place for a family outing, birthday party, and field trips. Memberships are also available for purchase for an affordable price and scholarships are available.
