Making 'Shirt' Happen at Sayler Screenprinting

From a small operation in his parent’s garage to now in the epicenter of Old Town Kearney with 2 automatic printing presses in a 5,000 square foot building, Sayler Screenprinting is “making shirt happen!” This local business was started from the ground up, with Kyle building his own presses from used materials. He said his first press only cost him $20! Now he has two full size automatic presses that can produce upwards of 3,500 shirts per day! Sayler Screenprinting doesn’t only screenprint, they offer embroidery, vinyl, and sublimation along with all designs being created in house. Their 16+ employees are what keep the shop hoppin’ and how Sayler has become a brand well known all across Nebraska.

Stepping into the shop, you’ll notice it isn’t your typical printing store. Playing off of the Sayler name, the entire place is decorated in nautical décor. There are anchors, portholes, a sandbox, and even a treasure chest from which you can collect treasure! Kyle knows the importance of a good brand, but he also likes to have fun and wants it to be fun for his customers as well. One of his favorite opportunities is having students visit his shop for tours. “We love focusing on our youth. They are the emerging generation that will help our community grow. We love hosting school tours. We have a treasure map that starts at the front of the shop that the kids can follow and learn the entire of the process of making a tee. At the end of the tour there is a treasure chest that they can choose a goody from. Trying to show what “screenprinting” means and different ways that a graphic design major could make a career is great.”

In case you were wondering why we are sharing all this info, we are gearing up for Oktoberfest and will be sharing the background of each of our breweries and food vendors attending. Kyle is excited to attend Oktoberfest again this year because he loves bringing a small part of his process to the event but also because it is a great event for adults in Kearney.
