Workforce continues to pose a significant challenge to the state and our local communities. The state unemployment rate for April 2022 sits at 1.9% while the April 2022 unemployment rate for Buffalo County, as reported by the Buffalo County Economic Development Council, sits below the state rate at 1.6%. Though these numbers are encouraging and well below the national unemployment rate of 3.6%, area businesses are continuing to hire. We encourage Chamber members to post their open positions on our job posting page as we promote these positions weekly through our social media. Please watch the Membership Listing Update Tutorial here for step-by-step instructions (starting around the 11:20 mark).
Other ways the Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce is working to address workforce-related challenges included HIRED, a video program aimed to showcase your business and why people should work with you, EXPLORE, our knowledgeable and experienced concierge service offering your business’s prospective job candidates with a tour of Kearney to help sell our community and help them make the choice to call Kearney home, and our Workforce Committee, a bi-monthly meeting on the 2nd Monday of that month at 9:00 AM where local organizations partner to address barriers to workforce entry. Please contact Adrian Gomez Ramos via email at agomez@kearneycoc.org or phone at 308-237-3101 to join the committee.
