The Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce remains committed to bolstering workforce initiatives by collaborating with community stakeholders and listening to their employment/career-related needs. Here are four tips provided by the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce and Industry to help with hiring:
Emphasize Employee Benefits
The number of job postings with information about sign-on benefits has increased in the last six years. Consider disclosing employee benefits and salaries to potential employees so they can correctly evaluate their job eligibility and so your business can attract more qualified workers.
Engage the Unengaged
People who are not in the labor force – such as veterans, the disabled, and those with past criminal records, among others – need clearer pathways to find work. Examine your work environment and assess what is needed to create and promote a welcoming workplace that appeals to diverse demographic groups.
Promote Job Flexibility
The percentage of remote work positions has more than tripled since 2020, and the percentage of workers who prefer remote or hybrid work arrangements has increased as well. Embracing job freedom and providing a range of work options can help you appeal to these workers.
Recruit Hidden Workers
Many companies evaluate job applicants based on their resumes and skills instead of their capabilities. As a result, hidden workers with potential have been sidelined. Currently, hidden workers in the U.S. amount to about 27 million. Your business may consider reviewing job requirements to attract individuals who might not meet traditional qualifications.
